Many service members never receive clear guidance on how to manage their money while serving. Predatory financial services companies are happy to sell high-interest loans, high-cost investments, and unsuitable insurance products to naive service members and their families.
If this book made a difference for you, consider passing it on.
The Military Money Manual changes the game. Your donation or sponsorship puts copies of the book directly into the people who need it most: US military active duty, Guard, Reserve, and military spouses.
In this post:
The Impact So Far
Thousands of copies have already been donated to service members and their families. Recipients include:
- ROTC detachments at universities across the country
- Officer Candidate Schools across all branches
- Graduating classes at the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Military Academy
- Reserve and National Guard units
- Aircraft maintenance squadrons
- Units and ships deployed overseas
- Military spouse groups
How to Sponsor
There are three ways to help put this book in front of service members.
1. Sponsor a Single Copy — $20
For $20, you put one copy of The Military Money Manual into the hands of a service member. Your sponsorship covers the cost of the book plus shipping to a service member, ROTC cadet, or military spouse who has requested a copy through their unit or program.
Important: This is a donation, not a personal purchase. You will not receive a copy of the book. If you want The Military Money Manual for yourself, you can buy it from the store or on Amazon.
2. Sponsor a Unit — 10 to 100 Copies
If you want to put a copy in the hands of every member of a squadron, company, division, ROTC detachment, or spouse group, this is the right option. We coordinate directly with unit leadership to make sure books arrive in time for graduation, a deployment, or a financial readiness event.
Common unit sponsorship sizes:
- Small unit, shop, or flight: 10 to 25 copies
- Squadron or company: 25 to 75 copies
- Larger unit or ROTC detachment: 75 to 100 copies
Pricing scales with quantity.

For service academy graduating classes, base-wide spouse readiness programs, large Reserve and Guard organizations, or corporate partners who want to support military financial readiness, we work out custom sponsorship arrangements.
Past sponsors have funded entire graduating classes at U.S. Air Force Academy, West Point, and U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

What people are saying:
“This book should be handed to every new LT at commissioning!”
“Most comprehensive investing/personal finance book written specifically for military members I have read so far. This book should be handed to every new LT at commissioning! Every ROTC Detachment should make this book part of their syllabus for senior cadets.”
“Just want to thank you for putting this book out. I wish I'd been given this book upon commissioning. Every young Airman/Guardian and Cadet needs this book before receiving their first military pay check.”
“I read your book as I'm preparing to start active duty and it has been a gold mine for me. I really appreciate all the information and wanted to say thank you.”
“Because I was TDY when your books delivered, I worked with the XXXth Fighter Generation Squadron commander to get all the copies distributed to our maintainers. He’s been a great partner these past few years and was very excited to get the resources out to the team. My biggest ask to him was that he ensure that everybody in the squadron got their own personal copy and that we didn’t miss anybody in the distribution. I know that he was successful in doing so because I’ve spoken with maintainers across the different flights (crew chiefs, supply, phase, back shop, etc.) and they’ve all said they received their copy. The best passive/informal feedback I’ve received so far was walking in unannounced to see our Lead Production Superintendent with his copy out while talking to one of our young crew chiefs about personal finance. I can say with confidence that there are 300+ military members at Davis-Monthan AFB who are now equipped with an outstanding personal finance resource. “
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do the books actually go? Books are shipped directly to the service member, unit, or program that requested them. We maintain a waiting list of units and individuals who have asked for copies, and sponsorships are matched on a first-come basis. If you sponsor a specific unit, the books go to that unit.
Are donations tax-deductible? We're not in the business of tax advice, but probably not. Sponsorships are processed through Reach Capital LLC, which is not a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Your sponsorship is not tax-deductible as a charitable contribution. Check with your tax advisor.
Can I sponsor copies for a specific unit? Yes. If you have a unit in mind (your old squadron, your child's ROTC detachment, a friend's command), include the details when you request a sponsorship and we will coordinate directly with that unit's leadership.
How long does it take for books to arrive? Usually days to weeks, depending on the size of the donation.
Can my company or organization sponsor? Yes. Corporate sponsorships are welcome. Reach out through the contact form above for details on custom arrangements, including co-branded materials for larger sponsorships.
Who wrote the book and where does the money go? The Military Money Manual was written by Spencer Reese, a former Air Force C-17 pilot. Sponsorship payments cover the cost of producing and shipping books to recipients.
